Meet the Owner
Susan with her husband Jack
Sattva (Susan) Daniel is a certified Svaroopa® Yoga instructor, Reiki Practitioner, and herbalist whose studio is located in the lovely town of Henniker NH.
Susan is the owner of Sea Glass Yoga & Wellness Center and a mother, farmer, herbalist and ski race coach who understands the reality of combining a healthy diet with a busy schedule. Her passion is family, yoga and nutrition! Sattva (pronounced sawt-vaw) is the Sanskrit name given Susan by her Guru, Swami Nirmalananda, after returning from her trip to Ganeshpuri, India. It means goodness and purity. It describes one of the qualities of Shiva, as well as one of the qualities that a yogi expresses into the world. Susan's herstory: Susan began her healing journey soon after her first child, Maggie, was born. When Maggie turned 3 months old, Susan was hospitalized with post-partum depression while visiting in her home town of Plum, PA. It was a horrible experience and as with all experiences, there is tremendous opportunity for growth. It took Susan a year of psychotherapy, symptom relief prescriptions of Zoloft and the side effect of weight gain to decide she wanted to try a natural method of healing. This led her to a four year herbal apprenticeship with The Boston School of Herbal Studies, Watertown, MA & Arlington, MA. Unfortunately only 18 months after her second child, Siȏn, was born, she was hospitalized again only days after giving her notice to her current engineering employer. This time in the best hospital in New England, McLean Hospital, the same hospital the famous musician James Taylor also visited during a relapse. This experience was much different, with art therapy, yoga and other advanced methods of recovery, Susan gained some divine coping tools and developed a way to understand herSelf through meditation techniques and truly heal using natural herbal remedies & Acupuncture. Many years later, after a skiing accident at Keystone Resort in Colorado, Susan found Svaroopa® Yoga as alternative to surgery. Thus began this chapter in Susan's career. Being educated as an Electrical Engineer, Susan found she wanted to understand the science of yoga. Svaroopa® Yoga Foundations training provided just enough information to pique her interest and desire to continue to study Master Yoga's Yoga Teacher Training(YTT) Level 1 and Level 2. In August 2013, Susan became certified as an Embodyment® Yoga Therapist and completed her study of Experiential Anatomy. After arriving in Henniker in the Autumn of 2012 & completing her 3rd season at Pats Peak as a ski race coach, Susan applied for an hourly job and committed to work for the Kearsarge Food Coop before leaving on a trip to Big Sky, MT to visit her brother. Well this job was not to be! Susan rounded the corner on Main Street in Henniker upon her return and noticed a for rent sign in the window of the Mini Mall. She contacted Davis & Towle Insurance, managers of the building, and the rest is herstory! Susan opened Sea Glass Yoga & Wellness Center on May 7, 2013. Please stop in to Sea Glass Yoga & Wellness Center for a class, a session, to purchase hand mixed tea blends, crystals, Ganesha murtis, handmade jewelry or for a wonderful conversation! Namaste, Sattva (Susan) |
